Spec Furniture

The SPEC Crayon Children's Series delivers durable, kid-friendly seating designed for everyday use in schools, daycare centers, clinics, and other healthcare environments. Built with a 16-gauge steel frame and high-pressure laminate surfaces, these chairs and stools are rated to support 250+ lbs, making them suitable for children and adults alike.

  • Durability and safety: 16-gauge steel construction with ULEF (Ultra-Low Emission Formaldehyde) particleboard and PVC edges for lasting performance and safer indoor air.
  • Color and customization: choose from 38 Spectone colors to mix and match, creating playful, inviting spaces while meeting safety and maintenance needs.
  • Standards and suitability: Healthcare and school approved, meeting ANSI/BIFMA X5.4 and X5.5 standards for reliable, everyday use in pediatric settings.
  • Maintenance and protection: Water-resistant laminate tops and polymer glides protect floors and simplify cleaning between uses.
  • Versatility: Available in chairs and stools, designed to fit evolving classroom layouts, waiting rooms, and treatment areas.

MATERIALS BREAKDOWN

FRAME CONSTRUCTION

Legs:
  • Constructed of 16 gauge 1-1/4" round tube, fully welded to a seat support plate. Fastened to inserts on the underside of the seat with 1/4-20 bolts.

FEET CONSTRUCTION

Glides:
  • Steel tubing is capped at the floor with compression fit injection molded polymer glides at the front and injected molded polymer glides at the rear.

SEAT/TOP CONSTRUCTION

Seat/Top Laminate:
  • Constructed of 1" Nu-Green 2, ULEF (Ultra Low Emission Formaldehyde) raw particleboard core.
  • Covered and bonded with water-based glue to a 1/16" high-pressure plastic laminate sheet on top and a plastic laminate backing sheet below.
  • Sandwich top thickness: approximately 1-1/8".
  • Core made using 100% pre-consumer recycled or recovered wood fiber, manufactured in an FSC Certified facility.
  • Top density: 39 pounds per sq. in.
  • Top edge is routed to accept PVC molding (PVF) to match or accent the top, bonded in place with water-based white glue.

Delivery & Returns

RETURNS: All contract furniture is made to order and cannot be returned for a refund. Simplova may approve some items for return but will be subject to a restocking fee.

CHANGES AND CANCELLATIONS: Orders that have been scheduled for production may not be changed. All changes including reconsignments to orders previously acknowledged must be requested in writing and are subject to approval. Requests for changes are not deemed accepted until confirmed by the manufacturer. In the event a revision is accepted, change fees may apply.

DELIVERIES BY COURIER/COMMON CARRIER & FREIGHT CLAIMS: The buyer, or buyer's representative, must be present at the time of delivery of the product to sign for and acknowledge correctness of the count and condition of the product being delivered. In the event of shortage or damage of product delivered by a common carrier other than Simplova, the Buyer will be required to file the appropriate claim with that carrier and will hold Simplova harmless from this claim.
